Mangalore: India is full of villages.
Maximum number of people live in villages and they depend on agriculture.
Hence it is necessary to strengthen the agriculture and the rural folk,
said Dhanakeerthi Balipa, a leading former and area president of Raitha Sangha.
He was speaking after inaugurating the workshop on agriculture conducted
jointly by Akashvani, Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada District agriculture
Department here recently. Krishi Vijnana Dendra of Kankanady and
Agriculture research centre of Brahmavar also joined hands in this venture.
Chief Guest Dr. Hanumanthappa, joint
research Director of Agriculture Research center, Brahmavara, said, 'today
paddy crop in coastal belt family problems and it is dividing day by day.
If farmers use mechanism they can come out of this problem and also
Govt. should support farmers, he said.
Dr. H. Kempegowda, Joint Director,
District Agriculture Department welcomed the gatherring. Dr.
Vasanthkumar Perla, Asstt. Director, Akashvani, Mangalore gave a keynote
address.

Mangalore said, All India Radio is braodcasting various farm related programmes
aiming at the all-round development of agriculture sector. Our aim is to
improve the paddy crop which is dividing in the district, she said.

compered the programme while Sadananda Holla gave vote of thanks.
After
the inauguration, technical sessions were held till evening. Farm
scinentists, farmers and other expert took active part in the discussion.
A large number of gathering witnessed the programme.
